With an estimated resident population of 54,000, the Clarence Valley Council area is located in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, approximately 600 kilometres north of the Sydney CBD and 300 kilometres south of the Brisbane CBD.
The Traditional Custodians of the Clarence Valley area are the Bundjalung, Gumbaynggirr and Yaegl nations, and there are 6 Aboriginal communities represented within the local government area, at Baryulgil, Malabugilmah, Grafton, South Grafton, Maclean, and Yamba.
There are currently over 70 facilitators trained to present the Love Bites and/or Love Bites Junior programs to students at the 7 high schools located in the Clarence Valley. These facilitators come from a diverse range of professional backgrounds, including Police, Education, Health, Corrective Services, Non-Government Organisations, and Domestic Violence Specialist Services. We welcome anyone to contact the Committee to enquire about becoming a Love Bites facilitator.
The Clarence Valley Love Bites Committee is supported by the Clarence Valley Domestic and Family Violence Committee, which comprises a wide range of Government and Non-Government Organisations working to raise awareness of domestic and family violence in our local community. The committee is auspiced by the Clarence River Domestic and Family Violence Specialist Service.
